"Read the Instructions" refers to an insert in "The New Era," a magazine for LDS youth. The poster contains a photo of an open set of scriptures with various hand tools around it. The full text is:
Before all else fails, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. (See Mosiah 1:6-7)
I plan to use this blog as a place to add my thoughts on various passages of scripture. I may end up with more than that, but that will be the blog's main purpose.

Dave, I just saw your blog and read all your observations. They are very insightful and I enjoyed reading them. I feel bad that I don't get on and check my facebook as much as I should, but I'm going to try to do better. I find that it's sometimes hard to keep my focus, but I'm working on it. I think I've told you I have MS and I had an MRI the other day which showed a lot of scar tissue (plaque) buildup on my spine and brain and the doctor said he is surprised I haven't succombed to a wheel chair, but I told him I'm resisting as long as I can. At any rate I guess all the damage to my brain is what causes me to have a hard time concentrating like I once could. Having said that, I'm going to try to check your site much more often and learn from what you're obviously learning.
I hope you guys have a great holiday. It would be fun to see you sometime. Do you ever get out West anymore or are you now just Southerners. I did have tours at Fort Bragg, Fort Gordon, and Fort McClellan but those were a long time ago. What year did you retire or have I already asked you that? Take care, Neil Lamont
